The “Christmas Blog” We Refused to Write
I’ll be honest—you didn’t click this because you wanted another holiday greeting from an IT company. Your inbox and your LinkedIn feed are already full of them. They all have the same stock photo of a laptop next to a cup of cocoa and some line about “staying safe this season.”
We almost wrote one of those. We even asked an AI to generate a photo of a server wearing a Santa hat. But looking at that image, we realized it represented the very thing we hate about this industry. (See above: we decided the trash can was a better fit).
It’s a performance. And just like that fake photo, most security awareness training is a performance, too.
It’s a box companies check once a year to keep their insurance company happy. They make their employees sit through a dry, 20-minute video that everyone plays on mute while they do their actual work. The staff isn’t learning; they’re just waiting for the progress bar to finish so they can get back to their to-do list. That’s a massive problem, because hackers don’t care about your completion certificates. They care about your distractions.
The ‘Human” Vulnerability
Hackers aren’t looking for a “technical glitch” in your system. They are looking for the person on your team who is tired, distracted, and trying to finish three days of work in four hours before the office closes for the week.
A $50,000 firewall is useless if a manager is in such a rush to get to a family dinner that they click “Enable Macros” on a fake invoice.

Call my cell to confirm. I will never be mad that you double-checked.” That one real, human message will do more to protect your company than any automated training video ever could.
